PROJECT BRIEF FOR CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
MODULE AIMS
Conceptual fashion allows the student to embark on a pathway of abstract reasoning and launch a new thought process within the fashion design procedure. It allows the student to start thinking abundantly, considering and exploring what are the pinnacle points within a fashion collection. This will introduce a new audience with different requirements and desires than the commercial market.
PROJECT BRIEF
You are designing a collection for your own label; you’re to gain inspiration from a choice of films you are to be shown .whilst watching you must be documenting information from the film. Then analyse the film and use it as a starting point to design a collection.
It is up to you what information you extract and develop further you must consider the aesthetic of the film, the story line, plot, cinematography, mood colour, dialogue and performance. However this is a starting point and just using stills from a film is not good enough research to design a collection from . Your designs have to be thematically linked with the starting point of your research and there has to be traceability of evidence which is not tenuous; This research informs fabric choice , surface print , silhouette , logo of brand , and very importantly accessories. Who is your customer and why ?
Your references should be conceptual designers/ artists/ writers, such as Marcel Duchamp raf simons,Edgar allan Poe,Clement Greenberg,Bruce Nauman, Margiela ,James Joyce, Chalayan , Bernard Wilhelm ,Kafka ,Rick Owens.
